- If the skin is noticeably irritated or damaged stop using beard oil and consult your Primary Care Physician or Dermatologist.
- If there is no skin irritation, redness or uncomfortable sensations proceed with applying beard oil to the skin and hair of the check, chin, and neck.
The purpose of beard oil is to add and seal in moisture for the hair and skin of the cheek, chin, and neck. Beard oil can also improve appearance, texture, and volume. Some beard oil blends have the added benefit of being antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antiviral.
Facial hair should be washed two to three times per week using a cleanser meant for face and men’s facial hair. Adjust the frequency of washing if you experience heightened beard itch, breakage, or skin sensitivity. Avoid overwashing to prevent dryness of facial hair and skin.
- Wash face and facial hair with warm water.
- Gently pat dry facial hair to remove excess water.
- Dispense beard oil in hands and rub together to warm for easy spreading. Use three to six drops of oil per length of facial hair. For example, if your beard is two inches long, apply 6 - 12 drops of beard oil.
- Apply oil first to skin under facial hair and then work through facial hair from root to tip.
- Use brush and/or comb to distribute oil evenly and style facial hair. We recommend using a wood comb and/or boar bristle brush.
We recommend applying beard oil daily to keep the skin and hair of your cheek, chin and neck moisturized and conditioned. If necessary reapply beard after washing your face or taking another shower.
It is best to apply beard oil to the skin and hair of your cheek, chin and neck after washing your face and/or exiting the shower. Gently squeeze your beard and pat dry with a microfiber cloth before applying beard oil.

Store beard oil in a cool and dark place. Direct sunlight and warm temperatures can cause oil to degrade and expire prematurely.
The half-ounce bottle of beard oil holds approximately 300 - 360 drops. Depending on the number of drops per application, customers can expect their supply to last from 1 - 3 months.
While some vendors use these terms interchangeably, Grizzled Teddy Co. differentiates these products based on the amount of beeswax included. Beard balms contain a high amount of beeswax while beard butters typically have little to none. Beeswax is a natural ingredient that provides hold for styling. Both beard balm and beard butter provide deep conditioning for the hair and should be used after beard oil is applied.
